Good to Know
Some information you should arm yourself with before buying.
Installation Don't skimp here!
Don't penny-pinch here! Choose a qualified carpet installer. Look for a certification from a national organization. Bad installation can make the best grade carpet and highest quality pad mean nothing.
Static Charges Don't get shocked!
Nearly every carpet on the market today has static resistance. If you are walking around shocking everyone and everything in sight, you have a poor quality carpet. There is no reason for your carpet to make your hair stand on end.
Measuring Your Carpet Need Simple calculations.
Carpet is sold by the square foot. To determine the square footage of a room, multiply the length of the room by the width of the room. This will give you the square footage. To get square yardage, divide by 9. Add 10% to your calculation for oddities in your floor plan. Of course, the best way to get the right amount of carpet is to let the installers measure personally. They are trained to calculate the proper amount. Let them decide how much to haul into your home.
